Yong’s paintings are collectibles and of great value especially as he has since 2004 retired from painting to concentrate on other interests in his life. In hs limited collections featured in the Rotary Charity Auction, further details are revealed here as follow.

Paintings, Oil on canvass:

1. Along the Foothills (circa 2002)

A painting that conveys pastoral drama, the positioning of a few human figures, and buildings in the distance gives an impression of dimensionality. The style is quite modern and creative not forgetting the abstract nature of these works.

2. Kadazan Family (circa 2003)

Family is a relatively figurative artwork. Rendered in deep blue, sienna, and black, a major portion of the work involves dark hues while cream overtones gently pacify the intensity of the concentrated darker shades. The artist’s strokes are short and long. Together, both colour and brushwork depict a rather solemn and dreary world in which this family abides.

3. Always together (Circa 2002)

Energy and Drama is observed through the zealous use of striking orange hues dominating the subject alongside browns and yellows which necessarily placate the intensity of the works. Here Human activity is complacent and restrained and reflects the emotion of the theme..

Water Colour on different media:

Water colour is a surprisingly versatile medium more protean then its slight physique promises. In these paintings offered Cheng Wah exploits a small but very real invention within it that could perhaps only come out of the cultural collusion of East and West.

1. Abstract – Melancholy (circa, 2000)

This painting not only exemplifies the above but is also shows the Artist melodramatic approach to the subject. The style is quite modern and creative not forgetting the abstract nature of these works.

2. Waiting for Dad (circa 2001)

A piece from the Artist favourite collection . A very difficult technique to use especially on rice paper.

3. Water Colour – Fishing Village (Circa -)

This painting depicts the artist’s keen attachment to native and indigenous themes. These paintings were made during his time spent among the aboriginals in the mountain ranges of Pahang examining their way of life.
